About
Here to Create is a place for those who have always felt a deep need to imagine, to make, to create - but don’t always know how. I write about ways I explore my own creativity and offer suggestions for methods I have found useful.
About Me
I’ve been writing since I learned how to hold a pencil. I’m only 27, but that’s still about 22 years of writing experience. The best thing about writing, though, is that there’s always room for improvement. I graduated from college with a bachelor’s degree in writing and literature, but I’ve struggled with incorporating my love of writing into my life. In the past few years, I’ve realized that since writing is a dream that just will not die, I need to pursue it whether or not I ever make any money from it.
Here to Create is my effort to make writing a daily part of my life, explore my views of writing and creativity, and get feedback by showing my work publicly. Creativity is the foundation of most of the important things in my life. The more I let my creativity run loose, the more fun things I find to try. I’m always exploring writing, of course, but I’ll also write about photography, design, jewelry making, and incorporating a creative attitude into everyday life.
About Here to Create
Here to Create is published every weekday. Regular features include Reviews on Fridays, where I talk about books, websites, blogs, and tools that I have found to be helpful in my creative journey. Some weeks I share a Friday Photo, one of my photographs in two resolutions for use as a desktop wallpaper. Starting in October, I’ll be expanding the Friday Photo to be a critique of one of my photographs, including things I like, things I’d change, and post-processing I’ve done using GIMP. A recently added section is Recommended Books, where I highlight my favorite books on creativity.
I hope Here to Create will become a community of those looking to add a little more imagination to their lives, whether through work, hobbies, or day to day routines. I welcome feedback. Please contact me using the form below with comments, questions, or suggestions.
