I miss reading like that! One of my new year's resolutions is to read 3 books a week. I need to get back to that love. I loved the Pern series, I should try them!

And I've heard about Kushiel's series a lot. Another one to try!

I haven't read Anne McCaffrey in ages; maybe I'll have to give her a try again. I've been trying to strike a balance between reading old favorites and discovering new books. It's always interesting to see how my opinion of books I read as a kid has changed.

I understand what you mean about being sad that a series is done. There are some books where I cry at the end not because the ending was sad but because the book is over and I know there won't be any more.

This is exactly how I feel when I read Anne McCaffrey's Pern series. She is a true master, and a great one to learn from. I'm reading the series now, for the second time, and with at least three new books added to the mix since I last made my way though it. With only two books left to go, I'll be sad when I'm all done.
